Richard Held & team
I am Richard Held and like my parents, I am passionate about my work at Hotel Held. I enjoy conversations with my guests and being a point of contact for my 40 employees. Some of them have been with us for 10-20 years and they work wonderfully together as a team – just like a family – and contribute to the charm of our traditional hotel.
My employees call me an "innkeeper with heart and soul". In addition to a feeling for the guests, I am a trained master chef and butcher and have embraced the art and craft of cooking. Even my hobbies have to do with culinary pleasure: herbs and confectionery. That's why the smell of freshly baked cakes always fills the hotel kitchen, though they are not always prepared by me: the Held kitchen team also makes great baked goods. Try them when staying with us.
History of our hotel in Regensburg
- In 1930 my grandparents opened an inn, a butcher shop, and a grocery store in Irl.
- My father, who had the same name as I do, was a trained cook, confectioner, and master butcher. Together with my mother Erna, he took over the business in 1961 and they expanded it into a hotel. Their guiding principle was: "Happy people excel at their work and never fail". Hotel Held soon became a renowned gastronomic and training establishment for cooks and hotel specialists.
- The third generation - that's me - was also drawn to gastronomy: I did an apprenticeship as a chef and butcher and got a taste of various kitchens around the world. At some point, I was drawn back to my parents' business. As a chef, I took over the helm in the kitchen at home with my father.
- Today I run the 4-star hotel in Regensburg, which now has 140 beds, a swimming pool, a small wellness area, conference rooms, and renovated rooms.
