Regensburg & the region
Your holiday in Regensburg
World Heritage. History. Nature. Our home, Regensburg, is a beautiful destination, picturesquely awaiting your visit: The old town with its buildings as well as the Stadtamhof district are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Remains from Roman times show how important the city was thousands of years ago. The Stone Bridge and the Cathedral of St. Peter from the Middle Ages characterize the cityscape today. But also a Greek-looking temple made of marble, the Valhalla, is a highlight during a vacation in Regensburg.
The sights in the surrounding area, the wide range of events from first-class culture to entertaining shows illustrate the diversity. The river landscapes of the region, the Danube connection as well as the developed hiking and biking trails give you the feeling you are truly in a paradise in the Upper Palatinate.
Please note that due to the Corona situation, some activities may be limited and events may be canceled for the time being.

Activities on your Regensburg holiday
Get active in the Upper Palatinate
Alternate between sightseeing and activities such as cycling, hiking, swimming, golfing, climbing, and motorcycling during your vacation in Regensburg.
For us, the most enjoyable way to explore the beautiful surroundings of Regensburg is by bike. A bike tour along the beautiful Danube or into the Altmühltal is highly recommended. Cycle along the Five Rivers Cycle Path from Regensburg to Kehlheim (about 30 km each way), where the Danube and Altmühl valleys meet. Or ride your bike to one of the region's swimming lakes.
For hikes, we recommend the Danube Panorama Trail and especially the stretch from Bad Abbach to Regensburg (approx. 20 km) or sections on the Jurasteig as well as the Burgensteigen.
Take motorcycle tours from Regensburg, e.g. to Regen through the Bavarian Forest and in the Upper Palatinate Lake District. Or to Franconia – Nuremberg is about 120 km away.
For boating fans, there are gorgeous river landscapes you can admire from a canoe. On the Regen, for example, you can take a day trip from Ramspau to Regensburg. Or on the Naab from Kallmünz to Regensburg/Mariaort (approx. 22 km). Boat rental companies organize transportation to and from the entry and exit points.
